Sorry I was unable to answer your question sooner due the busy
schedule of my work.
I have never learned any grappling nor ever
fought with any one good with the grappling. I can only answer you what
I would do if I have to fight against a grappler and why.
My
number one priority is to keep him away from me. When I am in position
to attack, I will strike to the head with full power and follow with a
front straight kick to the mid lower part of the body if the distance
allows or knee him if he is too close to me. If I am able to land on him
hard, I will follow with multiple upper cuts and elbows down to the
head. However, if he attacks me during my motion, I will immediately
fook sau to his neck with a low stance with a leg sretched out to keep
my balance. My elbow can stop him getting a full grip on my legs and I
can follow by an elbow to his face.
Grappling is not our
speciality. We will have no chance once they get hold of us. As I
understand it those fighters are trained to time you, move away from
your attack very quickly and are able to take some punishment. However,
they are human too, no matter how strong they are, if you are able to
land on them very hard to a degree, you can finish them. The good thing
is they are not trained to hurt you until they can get hold of you or
get you down. That give us the chance to really hurt them before they
have a opportunity to take us down. This give us some advantage. Like
I said, I have had no experience fighting with a grappler before,
everything I tell you here is only talking on paper. Things are always
easier to talk about than do, especially since they do have the
experience of facing a regular fighter and learning how the timing goes
but we don't. If I have a chance to fight with some grappler a few
times, I(we) should have no problem. I don't have the grappling problem
because so far I haven't let anyone grab me. Maybe it is because I
haven't faced someone expert in grappling.
If you like, I will
make a short tape to show you how it is done and it is for your own
judgement to see if these techniques would work or not.
