How about ones respect for his own teacher? Do you understand that??? You might not like your own parents but should'nt you show some respect just for the fact that they are your parents? Should a leaf on a tree not respect the roots which have nourished it? Because some wushu students pose as monks in China does'nt justify some person using a "traditional" picture as proof of progress. And no, the chinese definition for respect does not mean "unthinking subservience" to ones supposed "superiors". I think that you should open up a dictionary and look up the word "respect", because the last time I checked it meant the same in all languages and cultures. What I had meant in fact was to show respect to ones Sifu and Sigung, especially if you have learned anything either directly or indirectly from them. I personally don't like the term "gwailo" myself, and that is why I don't use it. Most of my friend and colleagues are not of Asian descent.
